Education Appeal 2007 – Back to School
Interpal has launched “Education Appeal 2007”. The appeal, traditionally launched at the end of summer, is aimed at raising money to help the poverty-stricken children of Palestine attend school and gain an education. Since 2006 sanctions and the withholding of tax revenues have meant that most parents can no longer afford to keep their children in school.
Interpal and other international NGO’s strive to ensure that poor and needy children, who live under military occupation, can return to school after the holidays. They ask for as little as £25. This small donation goes a long way and helps provide a school kit, consisting of a satchel and stationary. A larger donation helps provide school uniforms and financial assistance. “Education is a basic human right, which everyone deserves,” comments Interpal. “In occupied Palestine, this right is denied to our children.”
