Sponsor An Orphan
Why Sponsor
an Orphan?
"I and the caretaker of the orphan will enter Paradise together like this, raising (by way of illustration) his forefinger and middle finger jointly, leaving no space in between." [Sahih al-Bukhaari]
Let us
secure a place with the Messenger (SAW), let us extend our hand
to assist our less fortunate brothers and sister in humanity. By
helping them, we learn to realise our own humanity.
Just imagine
the goodness that can flourish from this one deed. Every morsel
of food that the child eats, every good word that the child
utters, every good action that the child does and every heart
that the child touches will be deeds that you have helped made
possible. And it does not end here; this child will grow up to
become a parent one day, the provisions that this parent brings
home for his or her family and the nurturing and upbringing that
is given to the children in this household was all made possible
long ago, by a caring soul, thousand of miles away, who may have
never seen or spoken to that young orphan, but always had a
place for the orphan in their heart. – A never-ending, ever
increasing deed!
Indeed,
by helping them we help our selves. The Messenger of Allah, (SAW), said:
"Allah Almighty says, 'Son of Adam, spend and you will be spent on."
[Bukhari and Muslim] [Al-Tirmidhi]
"Be merciful to those on the earth, so the One above the heavens will be merciful to you."
[At-Tabarānī and al-Hākim with a
sahīh (authentic) chain]
Let us grasp
this unique opportunity. For a mere £25 per month (83 pence per
day!), the very basic daily living costs of a young orphan are
covered; this amount contributes towards the expenses for food
and water, shelter and basic educational and medical needs.
The full £25
is delivered to the orphan, with none of this money being
deducted for administration purposes. If you are unable to
afford £25 to sponsor an orphan, then the cost can be shared
with family members or friends. Group sponsorship means that
there is really no excuse for anyone not to sponsor an orphan.
