Community development

Future Interpal plans include marketing Palestinian handicraft in Britain & elsewhere to encourage self-dependency & community development.

Whilst it is important to provide relief aid to Palestinians in need, Interpal recognises the need to help the community develop in order to encourage a culture of self-sufficiency. Interpal's main aim in the field of Community Development is to provide opportunities for Palestinians to help themselves, and help preserve their culture and heritage for future generations.

Interpal allocates about 5% of the funds it distributes to this cause, and seeks to preserve, maintain and refurbish sites and buildings of religious, historical, and cultural importance by:

  • Supporting Zakat and other charitable committees along with other religious and cultural organisations with their running costs
  • Providing funds to help in the establishment and maintenance of welfare centres for the elderly and the disabled
  • Supporting Qur'an Tahfiz centres
  • Supporting orphanages
