Humanitarian
Due to the desperate need for emergency relief, including the provision of medical supplies, food, shelter and clothing, Interpal allocates about 80% of the income spent on charitable purposes for expenditure in the humanitarian field. This is a reflection of the needs of the Palestinian people and the nature of the donations received.
Interpal recognises that effective aid delivery means responding efficiently to the changing needs of its beneficiaries. For this reason Interpal has focused on seasonal support during the Ramadan and ‘Eidul-Adha periods, and it has provided moral and financial support through the sponsorship of needy children, the disabled and the poor.
In the first 10 months of 2007, it spent nearly £1.5m on the provision of emergency aid such as food parcels, providing financial assistance to the poor and needy, sponsoring orphans, needy and disabled children, and poor families, and distributing Qurbani meat.
With the help and support of its donors, Interpal managed to raise over £5.2 million in 2006. About 26% of the funds raised were carried over to be distributed in 2007.£2.9 million of this was spent on practical Humanitarian Aid, and this was broken down as follows:
- Providing emergency relief, medical supplies, food (including Qurbani meat), shelter and clothing
- Providing moral and financial support through sponsorships to the disabled orphans, widows and needy children and families.
- Providing seasonal support during the Ramadan and Qurbani periods
