What We Do

STAND WITH
PALESTINE

This Ramadan, purify your wealth and soul by donating your Zakat and Sadaqah to the people of the Holy Land. For decades, our Palestinian brothers and sisters have been suffering from starvation, ill-health, crippling poverty and a denial of their human rights.

Right now, their situation has never been more critical.

For the people of Gaza, last year’s Ramadan was marred by a violent Israeli assault, killing more than 2,100 Palestinians and injuring over 11,200. In Syria, thousands of Palestinians and Syrians are fleeing the conflict, leaving the refugee camps in Lebanon and Jordan more overwhelmed than ever.

With a dire need to alleviate the suffering of our Palestinian brothers and sisters during this Holy Month, Interpal aims to help over 10,000 families across the occupied Palestinian territories, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.

“Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds and establish prayer and give zakat will have their reward with their Lord, and there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve”The Holy Quran 2:277

ZAKAT

Zakat is a pillar of Islam and its reward, along with all other good acts, is multiplied during the blessed month of Ramadan. You are eligible to pay Zakat if the amount of wealth that you have owned is more than the Nisaab (the amount of wealth a person must own in order for the payment of Zakat to become obligatory). In this case 2.5% must be given to charity in the form of Zakat.

FIDYA

Anyone who cannot fast during Ramadan, and is unable to make up the lost days afterwards must compensate by feeding a poor person for each day of fasting missed. Fidya for one day is what you consider to be the average cost of two meals. For UK residents, this would be around £5.00 per person.

KAFFARAH

Kaffarah is the payment to be made if someone intentionally breaks or misses a fast without a valid reason. They must either fast continuously for 60 days or, if this is not possible, they must feed 60 poor people with two meals for one day. For UK residents, this would cost £300 per day.

ZAKATUL-FITR

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) made compulsory to every Muslim to pay their Zakatul-fitr prior to Eid prayer if they have the sufficient means to do so. The money is distributed amongst the needy so that they may enjoy Eid. This year the cost is £5.00 per person.

“Thank you so much for this help. You do not know how much it helps me! I
had nothing to provide for my children on the first day of Ramadan except
old bread and that is how we used to survive. Alhamdulillah and Jazakum
Allah Khair!”Fathea, Interpal beneficiary
“During the attack on Gaza last year I was very worried about Soleyman,
the little boy from Gaza that I am sponsoring. I recently received an update
from Interpal about him. He looks happy in his pictures, his mother wrote
me a letter thanking me for their gifts, and I knew that my money was
reaching them and making a difference”S. Shahir, Interpal donor
“I felt like the other children when Interpal
gave me a school uniform.
I felt happy, not poor.”Suhad, Interpal beneficiary
“I know that my donations provide
help and ease the burden of the Palestinian
people, and I trust Interpal to facilitate this”S. Khan, Interpal donor
