A message from our Chairman

As the holy month of
Ramadan approaches, it is a time to think of giving and retrospection. Many of
us in the West are blessed to be around our families and to have enough food
and drink to break our fast every day during the blessed month. However, sadly
there are many people around the world who don’t have enough to eat at any
time, not just Muslims in Ramadan, who have no food to break their fasts or a
family to eat and pray with. We should not forget those who are in need this
month; whilst we are going without food and drink voluntarily as part of our
faith, our hunger pangs should remind us of those of all faiths and none who
are less well-off throughout the year. Many of the latter are Palestinian
refugees and we invite you to help them this Ramadan.

Our Ramadan Campaign 2015 aims to provide 15,000 families with many essentials
such as iftar (food to break the fast), food parcels and coupons, water and
financial aid, as well as Eid gifts for the children. The tagline for this
year’s campaign is “Where do you stand this Ramadan?” It represents our
solidarity with Palestine and its people during the holy month when we ask our
donors to stand up and be counted for Palestine and give their Zakat or Sadaqah
to Interpal. We are proud to be a major British charity which focuses solely on
Palestinians and their needs, so you can rest assured that your donations will
reach the beneficiaries, insha’Allah.

The trustees of Interpal would like to thank everyone who attended our Nakba
Narratives event, with a special mention for those behind the scenes who
organised and made it a success. It was truly amazing and was completely sold
out. We had performances from Brothers Mohammed Ali, Faisal Salah and Usaama
Minhas, as well as some inspiring speeches from guests like Sir Terence English, Dr Swee Ang Chai and Ben White; altogether we raised  £116,000 for our projects.
Thank you to everyone who attended and gave their support.

We would like to wish all of our brothers and sisters
around the world a blessed Ramadan. We hope and pray that you have a peaceful
and tranquil holy month.

Wassalam,

Ibrahim Hewitt

Chairman
