1. PROVIDING GAZA HOSPITALS WITH NEW X-RAY MACHINES

Many hospitals were targeted by the Israeli military during the 2014 Gaza assault and all of them suffer from a lack of life-saving equipment. We provided the Haifa Medical Centre with a £100,000 mobile x-ray C-arm device, which serve over 30,000 people. See the pictures

2. NAKBA NARRATIVES

In May 2015, we held a special evening to recognise 67 years of Palestinian suffering and the ongoing catastrophe facing Palestinian refugees. The event was attended by 300 people and we managed to raise £116,000 for our Palestinian beneficiaries. See the pictures

3. PROVIDING SAFE LIGHTING TO FAMILIES IN GAZA

The lack of electricity in Gaza put people’s lives at risk and has an impact on children’s education as they are unable to read or do their homework without light. In April 2015, we provided battery powered LED lights to 600 needy families. See the pictures and watch the video

4. STANDING WITH PALESTINE DURING RAMADAN

During the Holy Month of Ramadan, we asked you to stand #WithPalestine. Your generous donations provided an urgent lifeline to thousands of Palestinian families struggling in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon and Jordan. You enabled families to get financial aid, have staple food items throughout the month, gain access to fresh clean drinking water, and much, much more.

5. GAZA, ONE YEAR ON

In July 2015 we took to the streets of London to raise awareness of the situation in Gaza and ask people to stand with Palestine and send a letter to their MPs.

6. HELPING SYRIAN CHILDREN CONTINUE THEIR EDUCATION IN LEBANON

Being the new kid at school is always difficult, but being the new kid in a new country, having fled conflict and not knowing when you can return home is more than any child should cope with. Sadly this is the case for over 2 million children fleeing the conflict in Syria, with a huge number of these now refugees in Lebanon. This is why Interpal is supporting Al Insaani school, which provides children from Syria with a safe space to access their right to an education.

We proudly support the Palestine Trauma Centre who runs the Family and Community Therapy Project for traumatised children and their families in Gaza. One year on from the assault, we received drawings from children in Gaza, who are still severely traumatised and in urgent need of support. We also organised special events for 50 children with Down syndrome and autism.

8. GETTING PALESTINIAN CHILDREN BACK TO SCHOOL

While the majority of children across the UK were preparing to go back to school last September, thousands of Palestinian students continued face day-to-day obstacles that prevent them accessing their right to an education. It’s for this reason that Interpal focused on getting 5,000 students back to school and university via our Education Fund.

9. CELEBRATING EID AL ADHA

We delivered Qurbani meat to 8,000 vulnerable families in Gaza, the West Bank and the refugee camps in Jordan and Lebanon. Financial aid, food vouchers and Eid gifts were distributed and fun activities for children were organised.

10. A VISION FOR THE FUTURE: MEETING THE SPECIAL NEEDS OF PALESTINIAN CHILDREN

On Monday 26 October, we hosted an event in parliament on the special needs of Palestinian children. Chris Gunness from UNRWA introduced the Vision Project, an exciting and innovative project that will launch in 2016. The project will improve access to education and future opportunities for blind and visually impaired children in Gaza. Interpal’s Trustees have pledged to support the project with $500,000.
