Nakba Narratives 2016 From home to here: 68 years in exile In 1948, thousands of civilians in Palestine were massacred and hundreds of villages were destroyed. At the same time, over 750,000 Palestinians were expelled from their homes and forced to live as refugees in the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, Jordan and Syria. Today, there are now more than 5 million registered Palestinian refugees struggling with the destructive legacy of displacement, with four generations facing poverty, violence and refugeehood.
