Editorial – June 2016

With Ramadan just around the corner, our field offices have been working hard to ensure all preparations are completed for aid distributions during the holy month. As you know, the month of Ramadan is not only the month of mercy, when our good deeds and worship carry greater rewards, but also a time for family and counting our blessings. However, for Palestinian families living under occupation, siege and in overcrowded refugee camps, Ramadan is an especially difficult time.

Our Ramadan Campaign 2016 aims to provide 15,000 families with many essentials such as iftars (food to break the fast), food parcels and coupons, water, medical and financial aid, as well as Eid gifts for children. We hope that you will continue to support our work and come “Together for Palestine”, as we believe that each one of us has the ability to make a positive difference for Palestinians in need, and together we can ease the burden facing families across our areas of operation.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended our Nakba Narratives event on the 21st of May, with a special mention for those behind the scenes who organised and made it a success. We had performances from Brothers Tommy A-Man Evans and Omar Esa, as well as some inspiring speeches from guests like Dr Swee Ang Chai and Yvonne Ridley; altogether we raised £101,000 for our beneficiaries. Thank you to everyone who attended and gave their support.
