Supporting Access to Clean Drinking Water in Gaza's Schools

The summer heat can be unbearable in cramped and damaged homes in Gaza. This is made even more difficult by the lack of access to clean drinking water for many Palestinians.

95% of Gaza’s water is unfit for human consumption and Interpal works to ensure Palestinians are not denied the right to clean water.

Last week our Gaza Field Office provided four public water tanks for schools across the densely populated ‘Beach Camp’ in Gaza City. Due to the destruction of many schools and the lack of facilities in the refugee camps, many schools operate on a ‘double shift’ system, meaning double the number of regular students attend the schools we support. The tanks will therefore benefit over 4,000 children plus their teachers and school staff, and ensure that even though the water elsewhere may be unsafe, they are able to access clean water at school. This summer an addtional 3000 children will also be using the school for summer activities, so the impact is even greater!

We would like to say a special thank you to those who supported these water tanks! Providing clean water is a form of sadaqah jariya, and we pray that this beautiful charity is accepted and rewarded inshAllah!
