Remembering Sabra & Shatila, 34 Years On

This weekend marks the 34th anniversary of the massacres at the Sabra & Shatila refugee camps in Lebanon. Up to 3,500 Palestinian men, women and children were killed in what the UN has since named as an act of genocide. The attack was carried out by a right-wing Lebanese militia, under the watchful eyes of the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF).

Whilst the massacre remains largely neglected by history, we remember those who carry its trauma and the Palestinians who remain in refugee camps today, dispossessed and struggling under the weight of oppression.

Interpal works not just with Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, but in the camps of Lebanon and Jordan as well. To make a donation, visit www.interpal.org or call us on 0208 961 9993.
