Breast cancer awareness sessions in Lebanon

Our Lebanon Field Office recently organized an awareness session about breast cancer in Tyre. 45 mothers of Interpal’s sponsored children from Al Bass camp and Sahel Area attended the session.

There are many barriers to early detection for Palestinian refugee women in Lebanon: the poverty, the high cost of screening, the lack of information, the fear of detection and social stigma.

The women were extremely interested in the topic and were pleased to have the opportunity to ask questions to Dr Ahmad Othman, an expert in Hematology and Oncology. All the women received a pink ribbon as well as a first aid kit. These awareness sessions are a new initiative, and we hope to organize many more!
